What to Expect
Walking on the Jetty
The Busselton Jetty is open 24/7. Between 8:30AM – 5:00PM there is a $5 entry fee (kids go free!). The Jetty is 1.8km long and takes most people 25 minutes to walk to the end.
Prams, Walkers, Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters are welcome on the Jetty. Bikes, Skateboards and Scooters are not permitted on the Jetty. Animals are not allowed on the jetty, however, there is an exception for guide or support dogs and animals that also have the relevant accreditation and authorisation card.
The Jetty is a multi-purpose zone, so you will find people walking, fishing, diving, and doing other activities. You will need to check in at the 4 blue buildings at the start of the Jetty.
Catching the Train
The train runs along the Jetty every hour, on the hour. We recommend booking online in advance, as train tickets often sell out. The round-trip train ride is around 45 minutes total; It takes 20 minutes to get to the end, stops for 5 minutes, and takes 20 minutes to get back.
Prams are not permitted on the train. Wheelchairs and other mobility supports are permitted, just make sure to select the wheelchair option when booking!
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. You will need to check in at the 4 blue buildings at the start of the Jetty.
Underwater Observatory
The Underwater Observatory is located at the end of the Jetty and reaches the seafloor, which is 8m below the Jetty. There are 60 stairs, with platforms to stop at every 10 stairs. There is also a lift available for anyone who needs help with mobility.
The Observatory has windows to the reef that is growing at the end of the Jetty, so expect to see coral and lots of wildlife!
We offer Underwater Observatory Tours, which take around 1 hour and 45 minutes. We recommend booking online in advance, as this often sells out. This includes:
- A train ride to the end of the Jetty
- A 15 minute guided tour of the observatory, followed by 30 minutes where you can look around at your own pace (45 minutes total)
- Some time to look around the end of the Jetty
- A train ride back to the start of the Jetty
We also offer Mini Tours, which must be booked in-person on the day. This includes a 15 minute self-guided tour. You will have to walk to the end of the Jetty, as this option does not include a train.
